Our very own James Hardy won the 2009 Junior Surfing Champions!! Congratuations!!

Heres the low down on the event

The competitors had to attend all four events and compete. It was a tough season with over 40 riders taking part. It started in May 2009 at West Wittering beach, a successful distance race was held, but the huge tide managed to flatten off the surf. Next stop was Gwithian Beach in June, the conditions were also not ideal, as it was windy, however a counting surf and distance round was held for all SUPers. Next we were on top the Gower in South Wales, a highly competitive distance race was held across Swansea Bay (and many new faces from the Welsh SUP scene turned up to compete), then despite the dire forecast a nice clean 2ft wave turned up on Sunday at Llangennith beach for the surf contest. Finally on to Watergate Bay in October 2009. The waves were really fantastic and allowed the 27 competitors to show their stuff. On the sunday a 5km distance race was held in the head high, clean surf. Finally the points were added up the winners awarded the BSUPA trophies and the glory !

South East Kayakers

The group was been formed to meet the needs of sea kayakers based in the South East of England, from the Wash to Weymouth. The ethos of SESK is one of informality. It is not a training group, it does not have a committee, there are no rules, no membership fees and a minimum of bureaucracy. SESK is an informal group of friends who kayak together. It is expected that those joining us will have previous paddling experience, i.e. at least be able to keep their 'bum in the boat'. There may also be some trips that will only be open to paddlers with a higher level of experience.

Sea kayaking is an assumed risk sport. Trips will be arranged by members of the group who have either experience or qualification. But no liability is assumed, and you take part at your own risk. Trips may be modified to suit the prevailing weather conditions and the group's ability. For more information, visit the website using the link below.
